Diseases and disorders recently under scrutiny included blood, breast and colon cancer, bone fracture, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, hepatitis, chronic fatigue syndrome and gastroenteritis.

Some results were immediately forthcoming. For example, a staff member published a paper detailing an improvement to the calcium absorption test which could be immediately introduced into routine use in the monitoring of patients with osteoporosis.

Other work continued, with it's potential significance obvious, but requiring longer and more detailed study.
